Why Thames?

Our Mission

Our mission is to educate  owners about the value of their company and how to increase that value as part of the inevitable business exit. We offer three primary services:

  • Exit Planning
  • Business Valuation
  • Value Creation

Together, these serve as a business succession template for success.

We are based in Illinois so we’ll use an Abraham Lincoln analogy. Honest Abe once said, “Give me six hours to chop down a tree and I’ll spend four hours sharpening the axe.”

We help you sharpen the axe.

How do we do this?

We begin by understanding where you are now.  We then create a road map – with you –  that will take you from where you are  in terms of transition readiness to a place where the transition is legally, financially, and personally straightforward – and also maximizes your sale price.

It can be difficult to navigate the business and tax landscape, but that’s why we exist. We know the route, and we want you to learn it too.

Why should someone hire Thames vs. others?

We’ve all started our own companies. We know what it’s like to be an entrepreneur. And, we’re not big corporate gurus from huge consulting firms or Wall Street.

Is my business a good fit for Thames Management Resources?

We add the most value when the client company:

  • Is between $1M and $20M in revenue
  • Has ownership that wants maximum value from the sale of the business – and understands it may take some work and time to get there
  • Is looking for an objective, certified value of the business

Our History

Thames Management Resources began in 2007 to assist small- and mid-sized business owners. We started by providing due diligence for a small, Chicago-area investment firm. Today, we’ve done work for a number of firms  throughout the world.  These clients want to know the value of their company or transition the business to the next phase. We also work with a handful of economic development agencies to assist small businesses in their regions.
